The Fitting
This May marked the time of year where the British Fitters come together to discuss products, share techniques and catch up on all things equestrian. Due to the pandemic, it has been serval years since this has been possible, but as the UK is enjoying a spring of normality, the training day was organised for what turned out to be a sunny Friday in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire.
During this day, the Aviar Saddles founder, Cary Wallace. showcased some of our newest products, and explained to guest riders the benefits and advantages of some of the features found on an Aviar Saddle. For the most part, the fitting is a fairly complex process. Every rider and horse is different, and the fitter has to curate a specification to suit both parties equally. This creates a process that needs ultimate focus and know-how to get the rider and horse as happy and comfortable as possible, and achieve the perfect fit.
The materials, technology and features found on an Aviar Saddle can only be experienced at their true potential when a correct fit is achieved. Due to the nature of our saddles, they are incredibly close-contact, and have an extremely small footprint. This is essential when operating at a high level of dressage, as it allows for free and unrestricted movement of the horse, and enhanced feedback for the rider. The fitters role is to choose and select the correct saddle for the rider, with the correct knee rolls, panel size, seat size and features to make sure this feedback is felt, and the horse and rider are as comfortable as possible.
The fitters role is also to analyse the horses shape and anatomy, creating a combination that feels perfectly moulded. By achieving the perfect fit, it can improve posture, unlock technique and increase comfort in general. The fitters passion for horses, matched by the innovation and considered approach to our saddles make for a truly special experience.
A well-fitted Aviar Saddle, is also a great choice for a younger or less-experienced rider. As our saddles offer a large amount of support; posture and composure when developing your riding skills can be greatly increased. We love playing a part in a young riders equestrian journey.
Special thanks to rider Natalie Allen for hosting our training day.
